Moving right along February 7, 2007
Everything has been moving so fast….until recently…
We have been going crazy waiting to get the key to our shop which will officially be on 2316 N. Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando. Melinda and I will be meeting Iris - FINALLY - at the shop to get the KEY!! Yay! The holdup, (like our house-purchasing fiasco), stems from aquiring insurance. We had to submit an addendum to our liability insurance for Dr. Phillips, the organization that owns our space, before we could get our key. I blame fax machines for all of our problems getting that addendum, but we won’t concentrate on the past three days wasted. Here are the latest accomplishments:
-We enjoyed a fun-filled day of gelato-making with Domenico in his shop. We love the gelato base recipe that he gave us and we used it to make several flavors (coconut-chocolate chip, torroncino, and tiramisu as well as a cantaloupe sorbet). We took home TONS of gelato and also visited a local pizza shop and presented the owner a pan of tiramisu which he liked a lot - I think we might have gotten our first account! We also ordered a ton of flavors from the guy from PreGel who Domenico tortured all day long.
-We delivered our gelato all over town - to our realtor and mortgage broker, Stuart and Bill, to Glaze Under Fire, the OMA, and family and friends. Everyone loved it!
-We got offered the lease on the space and hurried as fast as we could to get that executed so we can get into the space.
-Chris finalized our lovely logo.
-We found appropriate freezers and refrigerators that are affordable and opened our bank account so that we can spend all the money we just put into it.
Those are the main things we’ve been up to. I just quit my job at Disney and I’m very anxious to get going!!
