No news IS good news! January 31, 2008
Hey everyone! We have had an incredible few weeks! Everyone (finally) is coming around to our gelato, and we couldn’t be more excited about what we have in the works!!
We’ve made an amazing connection with a franchised coffee shop that’s opening at least 2 (and maybe more) coffee shops that plan to sell gelato… and they want ours! We’ve solidified one branch and have a meeting with another franchisee on Monday. I don’t want to jump the gun, so I’m going to keep the name/locations under wraps, but — this could be VERY good for us (and for gelato lovers all over Central Florida)!
Another thing that goes hand in hand with how good this could be: Il GelatOne in Thornton Park has closed their doors. We know that a lot of people really enjoyed going over to their shop and are very sad to see it go. There are two branches of the franchised coffee shop within 2-3 miles of GelatOne’s old location… so we hope to catch the attention of some of their dedicated fans, and bring them out to our gelato instead.
We’re also in serious talks with a huge catering company and a new pizzeria opening in Orange City, both of which — added onto the production for the coffee shops — could mean that Trio is going to get very busy very soon!
Not only that, but February is a month of events for us!
-Mount Dora’s Art Festival this weekend, Feb. 2&3 (They don’t appear to have a website, but it’s a really cool event that fills all of the Mount Dora downtown streets with art & food.)
-The Images Art Festival in New Smyrna Beach, Feb 9&10 (http://www.imagesartfestival.org)
-We’ll have the cart out at the Element Earth dance production, put on by Emotions Dance Company out at Stetson University on the evenings of Feb. 8&9 : www.emotionsdanz.com Our friend Larissa started up this dance company, and we expect this event to be really something special: you should go see it!
-Our next open house will be Feb. 16th from 5-9 — details in the upcoming newsletter.
-We’ll of course be out at the College Park Farmers Market (Saturdays 9-1) and the Lake Eola Farmers Market (Sundays 10-4) the weekends that we’re NOT at festivals.
Also, you can now (finally) get PINTS of Trio’s gelato at Harmoni Market. We’ll be keeping their freezer stocked with popsicles, mini cakes, large cakes, and several flavors of pints… So, if you have a hankering, don’t wait. Just go get some! (www.harmonimarket.com)
Take a peek at our flickr page, too. I put up a few photos of our latest cakes. We love you guys. Thanks for checking in here even though it’s sporadic. (Thank goodness for RSS.)
Just showing off the pictures… Mark recommends putting a quarter or a pencil or something in the shots for size comparison purposes!
