I’m so sorry that this blog has fallen behind so terribly. Sometimes life just sweeps past you and 6 months are gone in the blink of an eye. Our lives have been so full as of late, that it’s hard to keep up with everything!

Jess, as many of you know, is a new mommy! She gave birth to beautiful little Jhonen Thomas Burbank on September 12.

He’s got his mom’s awesome smile and an appetite that is hard to keep up with. It’s going to be awesome to see him get a little bigger and try our gelato for the first time!

In the meantime, you might have seen that we’ve recently joined forces with Chocolate Connoisseurs/Gourmet Temptations in Winter Park to bring gelato back to the masses!

After Daily Grind closed, we were worried about all of the devoted gelato lovers we had cultivated no longer having anywhere satisfactory to go if they just want a cone or cup of the good stuff…

Thankfully, the wait is over. We have found a great partner on Park Avenue, and the fantastic chocolate shop is slowly phasing in our gelato as they phase out their old supplier. (In this transition time, you will probably be able to tell by looking which gelato is Trio’s — we’ve taken over about half of the flavors in the case so far, but… if you’re not sure you can ask them. Chances are very good that if you taste it, you’ll know.)

Chocolate Connoisseurs is located right down on the Rollins end of Park Ave. Just look for the black awning and the “gelato” sign!

Operation Make Daily Grind Cooler May 7, 2008

We want to make sure that the Daily Grind is an awesome place to go… And they’re looking to us to try to figure out how to get more people to learn about how great they are!

I suggested a number of ideas like bringing in musicians (that aren’t easy listening), or putting up art exhibitions and having openings for them… Can you all think of anything that would make the Daily Grind just a little bit cooler? Something to make it at the top of people’s lists of places to go?

The gelato is going great there, thanks to all of you who are supporting us by buying from them, but… they’re still looking to grow a bunch as they enter their 3rd month. And we want to help!

Any ideas?

World Fair Trade Day May 6, 2008

This Sautrday, we are participating in the 3rd Annual World Fair Trade Day May 10, 2008 from 12-5pm at Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar. There will be all sorts of local, organic, and fair trade vendors as well as local music, dj?s, and FUN.

The Fair Trade for a Greater Orlando (FTGOC) is putting it on: They are a grass-roots coalition whose mission is to create awareness and educate the community about the Fair Trade Alternative and expand the market for Fair Trade Products. It?s going to be a great way to get informed about Fair Trade issues? And you?ll be able to taste our incredible Fair Trade organic cocoa gelato? which you can usually find in chocolate-raspberry form at Dandelion Communitea Cafe.

Central Florida Earth Day April 21, 2008

You might not know by looking, but Trio has a soft spot for our planet.

That’s why we were so thrilled to participate in the Central Florida Earth Day celebration this past Saturday. The Florida School of Holistic Living took up the challenge of organizing the fantastic event in just one week, after the event coordinator who was supposed to set up the whole thing… didn’t. The event was going to happen out at Lake Eola, but instead took place in the school’s/Dandelion Communitea’s intimate parking lot, and out behind Evolve in the “forest”.

For as small a space as it was, a ton of people packed in to listen to great music, eat healthy and delicious food, drink plenty of organic beer, indulge in vegan baked goods and gelato (in earth-friendlier cones), and commiserate on saving the Earth while enjoying themselves immensely.

It was a very long, but very beautiful day. A perfectly sunny and warm Florida April day. Great for celebrating nature.

Gelato Party! April 20, 2008

We had a lovely evening out at the Daily Grind on Friday night! We invited everyone we could to come by and enjoy some gelato, coffee, and conversation in Trio’s new home away from home.

We were so pleased to see a great number of friends, new and old, come out and enjoy themselves! It means a lot to us that people are responding so positively to what we’re doing, and we can’t say enough about what a great venue the Daily Grind is for us to showcase our product.

The gelato case looks great (usually), and everyone’s getting really good at learning how to use those gelato spades! The owners, Larry & Elayne are absolutely fantastic to work with, and they’ve assembled a crew that is positively lovely. Here are a few snapshots from the event:
